The Bilderberg Group, named after their first conference in Dutch Hotel de Bilderberg in 1954, is a group of politicians and financiers who meet regularly to discuss matters of global importance. Because these meetings are extremely secretive, conspiracy theorists have suggested that this group effectively runs the world.

For example, F. William Engdahl in his A Century of War accuses the Bilderberg Group of orchestrating the 1973 oil crisis for their own gain.

Contrary to popular beliefs, Bilderberg meetings are not typical Big Brother meetings where a united group of people plots on taking over the world. According to Sherman Skolnick, these meetings are used to resolve disputes between warring factions of the Illuminati and make agreements.
