King Solomon is the protagonist of several books in the Hebrew Bible. The story of King Solomon says that he married many foreign wives. Eventually, King Solomon turned away from his Hebrew God, YHVH, and sought after the gods and demons of his various wives and concubines.

By the Middle Ages, many grimoires were attributed to King Solomon such as the Key of Solomon, Greater Clavicula Salomonis Regis, and The Lesser Key of Solomon or Lemegeton.
