Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth at Ford's Theatre on April 14, 1865. He died earlier the next day. Booth had several other co-conspirators. These co-conspirators consisted of David Herold, Lewis Powell, and George Atzerodt.
Many believe that the conspiracy was much bigger than Booth, Herold, Powell, and Atzerodt and that a pro-slavery secret society known as The Knights of the Golden Circle were behind the assassination of Lincoln. Conspiracy theorists claim that Booth and his co-conspirators were said to be the only ones to cover-up the Knights' involvement.
