Microsoft is selling customer data to US Agencies, and Advertisers. The reason behind this is unknown, and various theories have been made about why Microsoft would betray it's loyal customers, by selling access to their private and business data.

David Spring theorizes that Microsoft made a secret agreement to allow surveillance by US government in exchange for USA allowing Microsoft's monopoly tactics to remain unchallenged.[1]

Mikko Hypponen of anti-virus company F-Secure theorizes that Microsoft has been infiltrated by US Agencies for the purpose of writing Malware[2]

Microsoft and US Politicians theorized that the spying accusations would be "blowing over"(become irrelevant).[3]
